KS4 Curriculum

Intent for Students and Teachers, Implementation, Student Impact, and Promotion of British Values

At Aya College, we are committed to delivering a holistic KS4 curriculum that not only meets the academic and emotional needs of students with Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) but also embeds British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Our curriculum aims to create well-rounded individuals who are prepared for their examinations and for life in modern British society.

British Values Across the Curriculum

Throughout the KS4 curriculum, we actively promote British Values by:

  • Encouraging democracy through class discussions, debates, and decision-making activities.
  • Reinforcing the rule of law in science safety, classroom behaviour, and PE rules.
  • Promoting individual liberty by empowering students to express themselves and make informed choices.
  • Fostering mutual respect and tolerance through exploration of diverse cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles.

This curriculum ensures that KS4 SEBD students not only achieve their academic potential but also develop into responsible, respectful, and resilient members of modern British society.
