A Different Kind of Learning Community

AYA College is a small specialist independent school for young people aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. We provide a relational, therapeutic and highly personalised learning environment where young people are supported to rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and prepare for successful next steps.

We know that many of our pupils come to us after difficult educational experiences. Some may have experienced disruption, exclusion, low confidence, anxiety, emotional distress or barriers to learning that have made school feel unsafe, overwhelming or inaccessible. At AYA, we work to change that story.

Our school is built on the belief that every young person deserves to feel known, valued and capable of progress. Through small classes, strong relationships, therapeutic understanding, personalised learning and a deep commitment to identity and belonging, we aim to create a place where young people can grow academically, emotionally and socially.

We seek to understand their strengths, experiences, needs, interests and aspirations before determining how best to support their education.

This is why our philosophy is simple:

Small by Design

Eight Pupils.
Individual Journeys.

AYA College has a registered capacity of just 8 pupils.

Being small is not a limitation of our model. It is one of its strengths.

Our size enables us to know pupils well, build meaningful relationships and respond carefully to individual need.
