About Us AYA College
AYA College is an Independent Specialist School for students with Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD). It was opened in September 2020 following the Governors, senior leaders, and staff teams working tirelessly to provide a safe, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment where children and young people can develop their full potential. AYA College is built upon the vision and excellence of highly skilled professionals with over 20 years of experience in education, social care and clinical environments.
Our ethos is built on the belief that every student has unique strengths and untapped potential. Using the Tree of Life framework, we guide students to develop emotional resilience, self-awareness, and a positive sense of identity. This creative, metaphorical approach encourages learners to recognise their values, explore their strengths, and build meaningful relationships.
By fostering a strong sense of belonging and empowerment, we enable our students to re-engage with education in a way that is both meaningful and rewarding. At Aaya College, we don’t just provide learning opportunities; we nurture growth, confidence, and a renewed path to success.
Through a personalised curriculum underpinned by a holistic approach to therapeutic interventions, we aim to re-engage every learner. Our approach supports rapid improvements in pupils’ behaviour and builds the key competencies and skills pupils need for the next stage of their learning, be that moving between key stages, reintegration to a new school, or transition to college or work.

We take pride in offering a bespoke, broad, and balanced curriculum that goes beyond academics. Our approach includes the development of essential life skills, independence adeptness, executive functioning skills, and a readiness for the working world—aligned with the expectations of the Independent Schools Curriculum.
Our high expectations for students are reflected in our comprehensive investment in their learning journey at AYA College. Specialised support ensures that all learning needs are met, creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for every student.
As an independent educational provider, we acknowledge the unique challenges faced by a significant proportion of our students with special educational needs, often stemming from severe trauma and mental health challenges. Despite these challenges, we cultivate a culture of resilience, encouraging each student to strive for success and surpass societal expectations.

Our Approach
Small Classes, Big Support
At AYA College, we believe that every child deserves close attention and tailored guidance. That’s why our classes are intentionally kept small, with no more than four to six students, and supported by two dedicated staff for every group of four. This structure allows us to provide individualized teaching, consistent encouragement, and immediate support whenever needed. By ensuring that no student is overlooked, we create a space where each learner feels seen, supported, and fully equipped to succeed.
Whole-Child Focus
Education is more than academics—it’s about nurturing the heart, mind, and spirit. At AYA College, we take a whole-child approach, recognizing that students thrive when their emotional, social, and cultural needs are also met.
